Air, Oxygen, is vital, you know what it’s like if you are swimming in the ocean and you get held down by a strong surfing wave, scrambling to keep the ocean out of your lungs and the only thing you can focus on is getting yourself out of the water and sucking in some ‘air’. Breathing air is vital for our human form to exist, but just as important as breathing is the quality of the air you breathe, the integrity of the oxygen will make or break your capacity to survive and thrive.
Remember that beautiful song by the Hollies with the words…., “All I Need Is The Air That I Breathe And To Love You…” I’ll link in the Youtube clip in case you have never heard of it, which is highly likely if you only in your twenties!
Heres what Wikipedia says about - Breathing (or respiration, or ventilation) is the process of moving air into and out of the lungs to facilitate gas exchange with the internal environment, mostly by bringing in oxygen and flushing out carbon dioxide.
All aerobic creatures need oxygen for cellular respiration, which uses the oxygen to break down foods for energy and produces carbon dioxide as a waste product. Breathing, or “external respiration”, brings air into the lungs where gas exchange takes place in the alveoli through diffusion. The body’s circulatory system transports these gases to and from the cells, where “cellular respiration” takes place.
Breathing has other important functions. It provides a mechanism for speech, laughter and similar expressions of emotions. It is also used for reflexes such as yawning, coughing and sneezing. Animals that cannot thermoregulate by perspiration, because they lack sufficient sweat glands, may lose heat by evaporation through panting.
I wanted to get a very clear message across about air and air quality. Sometimes we go about our daily lives in a state of ignorant bliss, not taking time to consider the ‘air that we breathe’. We just breathe! We are working in offices or environments that are off the scale in VOC’s (volatile organic compounds). Several studies suggest that exposure to VOCs may make symptoms worse in people who have asthma or are particularly sensitive to chemicals. VOCsparticularly affect indoor air quality—concentrations of many VOCs are consistently higher indoors (up to 10 times higher) than outdoors. The reason why VOCs are higher indoors is because of all the artificial stuff we surround ourselves with. Any time you can spend outside in nature with trees and plants is the ‘best time’, the best oxygen and air quality is outside!
Right now you are probably reading this in your room, which has carpet on the floor, or if not carpet some sort of artificial surface. You are in a room which has paint on the walls, curtains or blinds that have their own sort of outgassing. You more than likely are wearing clothes which are portable traps for dust and dust mites, which then make their way onto your skin. You may still have your shoes on, those very shoes that may have been walking around a property or around a city. We always remove our shoes before going inside! We also diffuse a few specific essential oils to improve the air quality, and to reduce the significant air pollution that can come into a home or office, regardless of your well-meaning efforts to keep the environment clean. We diffuse the following essential oils - Easy Air, because of the ingredients in the blend, which are - Peppermint, Eucalyptus, Tea Tree, Lemon, Ravensara and Cardamom. Add 2-3 drops to your diffuser, and use in the mornings and afternoons, and this one is suitable to diffuse at night in the bedroom to help clear the lungs. May be applied on the chest, the back, or the bottoms of the feet. Place a few drops on the palms of the hands, cup the hands over your nose and mouth, and breathe deeply, or inhale the aroma of the oil directly.
Just a few days before Christmas day, we painted our guest room and my office, which meant removing all the items in the office decluttering and disturbing all that dust (dead skin), I got the worse case of Hay fever ever, because I also had to contend with the pollens and grass seeds floating around our country property and surrounding farmlands. Yes, I certainly was outside more, but I was coping it from inside and out. I took Triease, which is a magnificent doTERRA supplement (basically essential oils, Lavender, Lemon, and Peppermint.
We use the Clean Station Air Purifier (state of the art), hospital quality and able to leap tall buildings! We have a gadget that can read accurately the air particles in a room, and the more traffic you have in your air, the more issues your lungs and immune system have to cope with and the higher the reading. After leaving the air purifier in the room for a few hours, we retested the air, and the air particles had dropped down significantly. I’m not going to get all technical for this article because I will be writing more on this in the future.
Essential oils can cut through these air particles and certainly make a difference, and a good air purifier will take care of the rest. Stay tuned, as I will be sourcing a very good system soon, well worth investing in one of these if you are sensitive to air quality and mould (most people are).
When outside around trees and parklands, natural waterfalls, take deep and elongated breaths and savor the earth giving benefits. If you would like more assistance around air purifiers, essential oils for better breathing contact Anne Clark by writing to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Remember all you need is the air that you breathe and to love!
