I can’t tell you how infuriating it is for me to still see plastic bottled water being sold as a solution to transport, store and sell water, and this being sold as a so-called convenience to us! Ughh. This is an environmental disaster! We are actually 2-3 decades late in our response in actioning some sort of change around our consumption of plastic, however, as you will eventually read in my new book ‘Lifestyle Reset‘ - The Essential Guide To Healing You and The Planet I’m calling it again, like many other environmental evangelists, and making an effort through the way I purchase or not purchase plastic bottles. My suggestion is to only store water in a glass or BPA-free container. If not for the fact that whole cities are forming on top of plastic mountains, in countries like Laos and Brazil, I believe ‘collectively’ that we can still do something. Here’s why:
Because I keep fish in a pond within the garden of our property, I get to observe firsthand, how important the quality of water is to the life and health of my fish. An example of that is, last year I noticed several floating ‘dead’ fish near the filter mesh of my pond. I wracked my brain as to what may be causing so many fish to just turn up dead or very near death, as I had been keeping the water clean, and been particularly vigilant at cleaning out the filters, and then it hit me. I had introduced one new filter mesh which must have had a chemical of sorts, still embedded in it, and my fish just couldn’t handle the effect of this filter on the water quality. (more…)
I found myself in a precarious position, I was forced into ‘lockdown’ in Victoria while visiting my father. Along with all other Victorians I was sharing their plight in the cold of winter.
I have been known to say to my family, ‘no one is to die in Winter, get married, or have any celebration that requires my presence because it’s just too cold and I won’t be there for that.’
Indeed my trip to Melbourne was to only be for four days. “Life Is What Happens When You Are Busy Making Other Plans, as John Lennon’s words ring out to me!” I busied myself sorting out dads’ place by going through various cupboards, draws, storage areas, and more. Preparing meals for dad, that were healthy and wholesome and enjoying his beautiful company while forced into a Melbourne Lockdown that came out of nowhere but, then when I think about it now, was highly likely to happen! Anxiety can often be overlooked or mistaken for another condition, and therefore undiagnosed, misunderstood, and psychologically swept under the carpet, while the Anxiety itself creates havoc in the nervous system of the body. Catching the signs of anxiety early can mean the prevention of far more grave conditions.
Anxiety is a feeling that manifests in various ways, it can begin with your heart beating faster, usually in response to a stressful situation. Another symptom, even more, common is your palms become sweaty as you’re confronted with a perceived overwhelming task or event. Note the word ‘perceived’! Everything in life comes back to perception. How you respond to any given situation is directly related to your personal, private interpretation of that situation, ‘perception’. (more…)
Rain will fall, so if you don’t want to get wet make sure you have a good quality umbrella that you have easy access to, so you’re not left soaking wet! You see keeping up with positive physical and mental habits is like buying an umbrella when the sun is shining! This is my analogy for mapping out your day with ‘health deposits’ so that you are ready for the rain when it comes, and it will come, as sure as day becomes night.
You may be feeling wonderful now, you may even be the fittest you have ever been, but you never know when something can happen that can change all that in a heartbeat, and when that time comes, you want to have the best umbrella that money can buy!(more…)
