ThePooInYouA lot of my dear friends and subscribers have asked me to elaborate more on the ‘second brain’ and the way to look after it.

So what is the second brain and how is it relevant to you?

It’s your ‘gut’! It’s the part of your anatomy that most people know nothing about and they rarely explore the amazing brain. Mostly this is because most of us are either too ‘busy’, or ‘distracted’ or even just too tired to learn about it. The second brain is very relevant, and very interesting because the second brain needs to talk to the first brain, and if they have a falling out with each other, then that’s when problems arise.

You have heard the expression, ‘Gut feelings’! You have probably sensed things before, inside your belly, and either listened to the feelings, the intuition or ignored it, suffering whatever consequence comes from ignoring the message. The second brain is where we feel our anxiety just before the distress message is sent to the first brain. The first brain is where all our thinking, processing, contemplating and planning is happening, and our second brain is tuning into the messages, much like your ears to the radio station. Second brain health is crucial for first brain activity.

So when you are feeling particularly reactive to things, or experiencing digestive upsets, like bloat, IBS (irritable Bowel Syndrome), cravings for sugar or trans fats (hot chips cooked in deep friers). When you are feeling out of balance and nervous either brought on because of stress or perception of a situation, the second brain will need some help. I treat the second brain with Doterra’s DigestZen. It’s a wonderful blend that has more benefits to it than most people are prepared to talk about. I wrote a book, ‘The Poo In You’, and have researched a lot about the bowel and how to look after the whole body through intelligent food choices, and appropriate supplementation, however, I’m going to have to revise some of my book for the next print and add more about ‘DigestZen’ and the second brain.

Here is a typical scenario:

Scenario one: You have been out all day, running around doing errands and using the first brain. There will be a desire to eat something sweet, because you skipped lunch, or just had enough time for some fruit. You eat the sweet biscuits, knowing that it is not ideal, but hey, the horse has bolted so to speak. So what do you do? You combine a little Fractionated Coconut oil in your open palm, and 2 drops of Doterra DigestZen, and rub the palms together and then rub on the belly in a clockwise direction. Do this immediately after your little indiscretion and you ‘will’ feel some relief. You can also drink a few drops in water if you are game. DoTerra’s DigestZen blend is safe enough to ingest, because it’s a CPTG (Certified Pure Therapeutic Grade) – tested and re tested like you wouldn’t believe!

Scenario two: You are nervous about speaking or performing for a group. Once again apply a little oil to the palm and rub on the gut area, belly, and if that doesn’t work, take an empty glass, add 2 drops of Doterra DigestZen, then fill the glass with purified water. Stir the oil in a little with a stainless steel spoon or knife. Drink it all up. DigestZen is a blend that lends itself to many other uses, particularly for fussy children who just don’t seem to be able to settle, or who are suffering from a digestive upset. Combined with the Essential oil blend Balance, DigestZen can really calm an uptight stomach.

The best part about your second brain is, when it repairs, when the gut is functioning at full capacity, you will find that your focus will be better, your mind will be clearer and you won’t be so exhausted after food. Brain fog can sometimes be a by-product of eating foods with gluten, re-heated meals, and lifeless animal products that take way too long to be digested in your gastrointestinal tract.

What’s in DigestZen blend?

Ginger – is warming, empowering and uplifting. Emotionally, it may help influence physical energy, love, and courage. Because Ginger is calming on the digestive system, it may help reduce feelings of nausea and motion sickness.
Peppermint – is an anti-inflammatory to the prostate and nerves. It is soothing, cooling and dilating to the system. It may also be beneficial for counteracting food poisoning, vomiting, diarrhea, constipation, flatulence, halitosis, colic, nausea, and motion sickness.
Tarragon – may help to reduce anorexia, dyspepsia, flatulence, intestinal spasms, nervous and sluggish digestion, and genital urinary tract infection.
Fennel – may help improve digestive function by supporting the liver. It may also help balance the hormones.
Caraway – is antispasmodic and has anti-inflammatory properties. It may also help with indigestion, flatulence, diarrhea, and other spasms of the digestive tract.
Anise - may help calm and strengthen the digestive system.
DigestZen is not for use by people with epilepsy!

There you have it, DigestZen is a blend that improves the digestive function, therefore treats the ‘second brain’. Common issues like bloating, colitis, constipation, cramps, Crohn’s Disease, Diarrhea, Food Poisoning, Gastritis, Heartburn (which is really oesophagus burn), Nausea, Parasites and Sinusitis all respond to using this amazing blend.
